Interhouse Sport
Sport at Glenunga is an opportunity for all students and staff to get involved in the school’s culture. We promote collaboration and inclusivity and develop a sense of belonging and pride by connecting students with one of our four house teams:
- Air / Ngayirda (white)
- Earth / Yarta (green)
- Fire / Karla (red)
- Water / Kauwi (blue)
The four houses compete in events throughout the year including Sports Day, swimming carnivals and lunchtime competitions. We cater for all skill levels in order to actively encourage engagement and participation in a social and welcoming environment. In addition to a range of health and wellbeing benefits, participating in sports offers students the ability to expand their social group, connect with others and be part of a team and acquire and develop skills that can be applied to future endeavours.
Interhouse Sport and Student Leadership
Students are elected as House and Spirit captains by peers from their respective house.
House leaders are responsible for organising the various interhouse competitions and supporting their team throughout the year by promoting positive sportsmanship and wellbeing.
After School Sports Program
Glenunga teams compete in these competitions/zones:
- Southern Zone Secondary Schools Sports Association
- Sports Association For Adelaide Schools (formerly Independent Schools Sport Association)
We also have many teams competing in state knockout competitions (secondary equivalent of SAPSASA). Our students are also involved in a wide range of carnivals throughout the year, which vary based on student interest.
