Specialist Programs

Explore Glenunga International High School’s Specialist Programs, including Ignite for gifted students, International Student support, and enriching Study Tours.

Ignite

Glenunga International High School is a Department for Education Special Interest School offering high quality programs for students with high intellectual potential through the Ignite program.

Our program has been successful for over 2 decades. Learn more about our Ignite Program offerings on our programs page. The Ignite program is also offered at The Heights School and Aberfoyle Park High School.

Gifted and talented learners generally understand concepts, abstractions and ideas beyond what would normally be expected at their age. This means the curriculum needs to be concept based and include complex, abstract ideas so that interests and abilities are challenged and extended.

International Baccalaureate

The International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma is a comprehensive and exciting pre-university course. The programme gives students a well-rounded and holistic experience.

At Glenunga, the IB Diploma is only offered to students in Years 11 and 12. The IB Diploma Programme curriculum is made up of:

  • six subject groups.
  • the Diploma Programme core, comprising theory of knowledge (TOK), creativity, activity, service (CAS) and the extended essay.

Through the Diploma Programme core, students reflect on the nature of knowledge, complete independent research and undertake a project that often involves community service.

International Student Program

Glenunga International High School welcomes students from all over the world. Our International Student Program, offered to students with a Subclass 500 Visa, is highly regarded both locally and globally.

Our International Students are valued members of our school community, offering diversity in the curriculum, community and culture of the school. They are supported by members of the Executive Leadership Team, the International Student Program Manager, Wellbeing Leaders, Sub School Leaders, Mentor Teachers and our teaching staff.

Study Tours

Short-term study tours are visits of one to four weeks by international student groups looking to experience an Australian high school education and lifestyle in a friendly, English-speaking environment.

With the support and goodwill of families, students and staff, these tours provide a unique opportunity to embrace social and cultural diversity as a community.
