19 Aug Koishikawa Secondary Education School Study Tour
On Friday we said farewell to 18 Japanese exchange students from Koishikawa Secondary Education School in Tokyo. The students spent 12 days at Glenunga and engaged in a variety of activities ranging from a tour of Adelaide Oval and Haighs Chocolate Factory and a visit to Cleland Wildlife Park. It’s safe to say the students had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed their experience.
This tour would not have been possible without the support of our wonderful host families who made every single one of our Japanese students feel at home and ensured they had a truly Australian experience. Our host families went above and beyond, especially on the weekend, driving to Victor Harbour, the Barossa and even taking students to an AFL football game. Most students experienced Vegemite for the first time, some really enjoyed it and we received mixed feedback from others!
Students also engaged in year level classes at Glenunga, ranging from Drama, Music, Maths and Physical Education. Students learned how to play AFL and baked ANZAC biscuits. Our heartfelt thanks also goes out to staff who welcomed students into their classrooms and to our student buddies for their hard work during the program.
As a team, we have been so humbled by the support from the GIHS community and we would like to extend our thanks and gratitude to everyone who played a part in making this tour successful.
