On 14 March 2018, six Glenunga students accompanied Ms Penna and Mr Love to Sydney to attend the ASEAN – Australia Youth Forum.

The ASEAN-Australia Council supported more than 60 secondary students to participate in the Youth Forum, which was held during the ASEAN-Australia Special Summit. As a student centred forum, the full-day program deepened students’ understanding of ASEAN Member States, Australia’s relationship with them and the various issues the nations face.

Students were asked to simulate a meeting between the leaders of Australia and ASEAN countries – our students represented Thailand. They had the opportunity to present Thailand’s position on the issues they, as a nation, are facing. Importantly, students discussed and proposed ideas and strategies with the aim to reach mutually agreeable solutions through negotiation and consensus building.

The students also had the opportunity to network with key personnel in the Foreign Affairs industry, including Julie bishop.

Well done team on your outstanding work. We were very proud to have you representing Glenunga on the global stage!
